I steer clear of
traditional diets & diet mentality
because 95% of diets fail.
About Me
Not only does dieting negatively affect metabolism and your body’s responses to healthy hunger and fullness cues, but it also feeds body dissatisfaction, and increases the risk of disordered eating behaviors. I help people reframe their expectations for what healthy is for them personally.
“Healthy” doesn’t necessarily have a size or shape, but it does have a feel. Improving nutritional habits in a way that is happily sustainable for the rest of your life is a much more effective way of achieving actual health regardless of a fickle number on a scale, an arbitrary clothing size, or what you see on social media.
Our bodies are designed to have optimal health from food when we enjoy it. On a cellular level, we digest and absorb micronutrients of foods better when it comes from a food source that we find appetizing!
There is no true health without happiness.

More About Working With Me
What can you expect when working with me?
-
A healthier relationship with food.
-
Sensible, science-based, practical nutrition information. Lots of encouragement to cook and eat together with family when possible.
-
A wider view of nutrition as it relates to your health that takes into account your physical and mental health as well as routines, schedules and preferences.
-
Allowing you, the client, to be in the driver’s seat when it comes to goal setting and timing of change.
-
Encouragement to pay attention to your own body’s cues of hunger and fullness.
-
Adding in versus subtracting. I feel like when you focus on elimination and deprivation you end up with resentment and discontent. A more positive approach of adding in healthy routines and behaviors will naturally crowd the less healthful ones out a bit so that they fill the cameo roles in your life not the leading roles.
What not to expect:
-
A fixed set of meal plans. I am not a meal planning machine, but I am happy to teach you how to create your own with a flexible meal template that is workable in all kinds of eating environments.
-
A list of foods to avoid.
-
A magic bullet.
-
An easy, quick fix that avoids long-term change.
-
A focus on weight or a number on the scale.
-
Anything trendy or fad-based and anything that looks, feels or acts like a diet.

I’m credentialed as a registered dietitian nutritionist, which means I have the education, the experience, and the continuing education that makes me a nutrition expert. Food, diet and nutrition information should come from an RDN. Other voices are quick to weigh in on eating/dieting strategies, but an RDN is the nutrition expert. WIth over two decades of experience in clinical and community nutrition, I’m an expert you can trust. Finally, I am a dietitian who actually loves food.
I love to cook, I love to eat, and I love to feed people! Food makes me happy. I enjoy all sorts of foods and am a very realistic and experienced nutrition expert. Dark chocolate and fruit are my very favorite foods, but I’m also a sucker for cheese, homemade and artisan bread, and a good smoked brisket. One of my biggest goals is to help people find enjoyment daily in their eating experiences.
